ABINGDON, Va. ― On Friday, April 20, Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) will hold its seventh annual Spring Fling & Auction in support of the school’s student scholarship fund.

This year’s event, themed “Field of Dreams,” will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon. Featuring a live and silent auction and a ballpark-inspired dinner catered by JJ’s Restaurant, the occasion will give attendees an opportunity to bid on a range of auction items, including tickets to Walt Disney World and various sporting events, vacation getaways, bed and breakfast accommodations, spa packages, sports collectibles and memorabilia, jewelry, and an assortment of gift baskets.

In keeping with the “Field of Dreams” theme, the event will feature face painting, balloon animals, a professional photo booth, cotton candy, popcorn and more. Attendees will also be able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a black 2008 BMW 135i Convertible. Only 399 raffle tickets are available, and the drawing will be held at the auction if all tickets are sold.

Admission to the Spring Fling & Auction is $35 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 and up. Tickets may be purchased at Cornerstone Christian Academy, 16210 Elementary Drive, Abingdon, Virginia, or by visiting www.cornerstoneabingdon.org. For more information, call (276) 623-7164.

Last year’s event raised $48,000 for CCA’s scholarship fund.

“We always look forward to our annual Spring Fling & Auction,” says Dr. Clay Brinson, head of school at Cornerstone. “Not only is it a fun and exciting evening, but it helps maintain our student scholarship fund, which enables us to keep our tuition affordable and support families who might need financial assistance.”

Located in Abingdon, CCA is a classical, non-denominational Christian school serving students in junior kindergarten through 12th grade. The school is currently accepting applications for fall 2018 enrollment.

In 2016, CCA received a five-year accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for grades K-12. ACSI is one of 14 associations with accreditation processes that have been approved by the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) and recognized by the Virginia Board of Education. Accreditation through a VCPE-approved, state-recognized accrediting member guarantees the transfer of student-earned credits from a private school to a public school, and ensures recognition of teacher licensure credits for time served in an accredited private school.
