BRISTOL, Tenn., July 13, 2020 — King University and Chick-fil-A at The Pinnacle announce the launch of a new annual scholarship.
Applications for the first Chick-fil-A at The Pinnacle Scholarship are currently being accepted, offering students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at King — preferably in business, marketing, or communications — the opportunity to receive an additional $1,200 toward tuition. The award will be presented to one student during the fall 2020 academic semester.
“Community support has always been part of our way of doing business,” said Josh Horner, owner of Chick-fil-A at The Pinnacle. “Supporting young people in their educational journeys gives us another way to serve and value our local community, and we look forward to seeing numerous opportunities unfold for students during their time at King.”
The scholarship was created as a way to honor Chick-fil-A Founder Truett Cathy’s faith-based principles of servant leadership, which guide the company’s overall operations.
“We are very thankful that Mr. Horner and Chick-fil-A at The Pinnacle are investing in the students of King by making this scholarship opportunity available,” said Brent Davison, vice president for Advancement at King. “Chick-fil-A and King both place high value on honoring and serving others, and it is through the kind of generosity modeled by this company that we are able to impact the lives of current and future King students.”
Students who wish to apply must currently be entering or pursuing a degree program at King and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Applicants are asked to select one of Chick-fil-A’s four core values and share, in a one-page essay, how it speaks to their educational pursuits and future career. These values state: We’re here to serve; we’re better together; we’re purpose driven; and we pursue what’s next.

Completed applications may be submitted in person to the Advancement Office, located in Sells Hall, Suite 106, or emailed to Micah Crews, associate vice president of Advancement Services, at mrcrews@king.edu. The deadline to submit all application materials is Tuesday, Sept. 1.
