King ranked seventh among its peers in U.S. News’ Best Value Schools

BRISTOL, Tenn., Sept. 13, 2021 — King University has been named among the Best Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report, as part of the publication’s newly released 2022 Best Colleges Rankings. The 2022 designation marks King’s 32nd consecutive appearance in the annual publication.

King ranked seventh on the publication’s list of Best Value Schools for Regional Universities in the South, 15th in the Top Performers on Social Mobility categories in the South, and achieved high rankings among the Best Regional Universities and Best Colleges for Veterans. 

“King’s ranking among the top seven best-value regional universities reflects our commitment to offering a high-quality, private educational experience on par with public cost,” said Matt Roberts, Ed.D., provost of King. “Consistently, our students and alumni point to the positive, individual attention provided by faculty and staff as a critical element in their success. This personalized attention is something we are very proud of, and able to offer with the generous support of alumni and friends.”

Each year, King University awards approximately $19 million in aid to students, with an average financial award of $22,000.

U.S. News ranks Best Value Schools by assessing a university’s academic quality and price, as well as the percentage of need-based aid the university offers to offset total cost. The higher the quality and the lower the actual cost, the greater the value. 

U.S. News ranked 245 institutions in the Best Value Schools — Regional Universities category nationwide, including 58 in the South. U.S. News defines a Regional University as an institution that offers a full range of undergraduate programs, some master’s degree programs, and limited doctoral offerings.

Now in its 37th year, the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings compare bachelor’s degree-granting regionally accredited institutions from across the U.S. on 17 measures of academic quality. These include graduation and retention rates, class size, graduation rate performance, social mobility, expert opinion, faculty resources, student excellence, financial resources and alumni giving. The 2022 edition assesses 1,466 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions.
