Cornerstone Christian Academy to Begin Open Enrollment, Host Events to Give Families an Opportunity to Visit School

Feb 6, 2017 | Cornerstone Christian Academy

ABINGDON, Va. ― Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) will commence open enrollment for the 2017-18 school year on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Located in Abingdon, Virginia, CCA is a classical, non-denominational Christian school that serves students in junior kindergarten — 12th grade. Since its founding in 2011, CCA’s enrollment has flourished, growing from 27 to 186 students.

Families interested in learning more about CCA are encouraged to attend upcoming Cornerstone Coffee events, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16, and Thursday, March 2, at 9 a.m., as well as an Open House on Thursday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. Prospective students will have an opportunity to experience CCA firsthand during a Shadow Day on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

To learn more about CCA and schedule a visit, call (276) 623-7164 and go to www.cornerstoneabingdon.org.

“CCA provides students with the opportunity to excel in academics, fine arts and athletics — all within the context of a Biblical worldview,” says Dr. Clay Brinson, head of school at Cornerstone. “We have already seen how our graduates stand out in their respective courses of study at a wide range of institutions, including King University, Liberty University and the U.S. Air Force Academy, just to name a few.”

CCA is currently leasing space at Abingdon Bible Church, located at 16210 Elementary Drive in Abingdon. To accommodate its continued growth and expansion, the school is developing a 27-acre campus adjacent to I-81 off Exit 13 in Abingdon.

In July 2016, CCA received a five-year accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for grades K-12. ACSI is one of 14 associations with accreditation processes that have been approved by the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) and are recognized by the Virginia Board of Education. Accreditation through a VCPE-approved state-recognized accrediting member guarantees the transfer of student credits from the state-recognized accredited private school to a public school, and ensures recognition of teacher licensure credits for time served in an accredited private school.
