Riser Named Vice President of Corporate Marketing

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Christine Riser has been promoted to vice president of Corporate Marketing (CM), the marketing and advertising division of The Corporate Image (TCI), an integrated communications firm, both headquartered in Bristol, Tennessee.

Riser, who most recently served as director of digital operations for the company, is responsible for overseeing all digital and traditional marketing and advertising initiatives, supervising the digital media and marketing team, and developing and maintaining relationships with current and potential clients.

Riser has nearly three decades of experience in broadcast and online news, production, sports marketing, advertising and promotions, and market research. Her extensive background includes serving as a reporter, producer, news director and general manager for a number of news outlets, including WJHL, and she has provided consistent oversight of multi-million dollar advertising strategies and budgets for such organizations as Bristol Motor Speedway.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Riser holds a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. She has served on multiple boards and committees for area organizations, including the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters Board, Girls, Inc. of Johnson City/Washington County, and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, among others. A recipient of the U.S. Military Reporters & Editors Distinguished Reporting Award and the Texas Press Association Katie Award, Riser is also a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and a Fellow with the Carole Kneeland Project for Responsible Journalism.

Most recently, she served as director of consumer data and research and executive producer of Colossus TV for BMS.

Lundberg, Corporate Marketing Recognized at 2016 Southwest Virginia ADDY® Awards Gala

BRISTOL, Tenn. — The American Advertising Federation of Southwest Virginia (AAF SWVA) presented its 2016 Silver Medal Award to Jon Lundberg, president and CEO of The Corporate Image (TCI), an integrated communications firm headquartered in Bristol, Tennessee. Lundberg is also president and CEO of Corporate Marketing, TCI’s marketing and advertising division.

Lundberg was honored at the Southwest Virginia ADDY® Awards Gala, held Feb. 27 at Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia.

The Silver Medal Award is the highest honor the AAF bestows. It recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advertising, and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.

In his early career, Lundberg gained more than a decade of experience in broadcast news, working as lead anchor and managing editor with stations throughout Colorado, Nevada and Kansas, as well as with WCYB News 5 in Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee. Since founding TCI, in 1993, and Corporate Marketing, in 1997, he has guided the firm in collaborating with dozens of clients throughout the Southeast to produce award-winning marketing campaigns, advertising content and communications strategies.

“This area is packed with smart, creative professionals, and it’s a pleasure each day to work with them,” Lundberg says. “We’re constantly learning from each other and exploring ways to move our region forward. I’m grateful for that opportunity and truly honored by this recognition.”

Corporate Marketing received a gold ADDY® for “Life’s Steps,” a 30-second commercial produced for Mullican Flooring of Johnson City, Tennessee. The commercial was directed and edited by Marty Engle, director of graphic services for Corporate Marketing, with videography and production provided by Sean Harris of HTP, located in Johnson City. Corporate Marketing also received a silver ADDY® for a website produced for Mullican Flooring. Engle provided creative design and content for the project, while Ray Barnes, designer, and Ann Marie French, director of strategy, were also recognized. Engle was also the recipient of the Round File award, an honor specific to the Southwest Virginia chapter, which recognizes work performed for a client that is superior in quality but may never be used.

The ADDY® Awards attract more than 40,000 entries each year in local competitions, and are the first phase of a three-tiered national competition.

Batot Named Marketing Development Manager for Corporate Marketing Group

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Rob Batot has been named marketing development manager for Corporate Marketing Group (CMG), a division of The Corporate Image (TCI), an integrated communications firm headquartered in Bristol, Tenn.

In his position, Batot is responsible for developing new client opportunities for CMG and TCI across local, regional and national markets. Batot will play a key role in developing marketing and advertising proposals and strategies for new business prospects, as well as assisting in the execution of marketing and advertising plans for existing clients.

A native of Hondo, Texas, Batot comes to CMG with 20 years of communications experience in news media across the U.S., including 12 years in the Tri-Cities market with WJHL-TV. His background also includes experience in strategic marketing, sales and technical support. He has actively volunteered as a public speaker and fundraiser for numerous community events and charitable causes, including the American Red Cross and Children’s Miracle Network.

“Rob’s expertise and depth of knowledge will strengthen our ability to serve our diverse client base and effectively pursue new client opportunities,” says TCI President Jon Lundberg. “We are confident that he will add another layer of knowledge and experience to our award-winning team of communications professionals.”

Batot graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology and a minor in communications.
